The problem the project addresses is nationalist isolation in broader debates about democracy. The project aims to connect local, artist-centred organisations in Morocco and Tunisia in order to strengthen the professional capacity of all involved. In laying the foundations for a more comprehensive professional exchange in the field of art between Sweden and North Africa, we seek to strengthen our capacity to engage with themes of decolonialisation in Sweden in a grounded and informed way. Reciprocally, we aim to help facilitate knowledge exchange between countries in North Africa, which are often forced by funding structures into a relationship with France rather than more horizontally across the region.
