Training to Teach Online in Wartime and After

This project is about support for teachers in higher education in Ukraine. It will focus on the needs of teachers during and after wartime.

Due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, universities have been facing difficulties in converting and maintaining education online. Many educators find it difficult to teach in wartime, and according to a survey conducted in 2022, more than three quarters of the teachers were dramatically affected by the war. More than half of them experienced depression and psychological difficulties. In view of this, the project addresses an urgent need to design and deliver online courses during wartime. It also highlights the aim to reconstruct the higher education sector for the post-war period.

The project will focus on multiple fields of work. First, exploring teacher’s knowledge in creating and delivering online courses, and in dealing with psychological and technical challenges caused by the war. Second, creating a flexible modular program for online teaching. Third, training teachers at Ivan Franko National university in Lviv. Fourth, creating a publicly available modular program for teaching in wartime and after. And fifth, establishing a network of academics dedicated to e-learning in higher education in Ukraine.
