UNRECOGNIZED

The project aims to support cultural organisations in Eastern Europe in their efforts to advocate for human rights and democracy through artistic expression and public dialogue.

In many post-Soviet societies, including Georgia, Ukraine and Kosovo, young people and civil society actors face growing authoritarian tendencies that threaten democratic values and civic space. Artists, intellectuals and cultural workers often stand at the frontline of these pressures, yet they also possess the capacity to act as key agents of change and foster public engagement.

Through the development and touring of a collaborative theatre production, the project will address issues of identity, displacement and democracy, and promote cross-border dialogue. Activities include script development, rehearsals, and performances, as well as seminars, workshops and post-show discussions. Target groups are involved throughout the process, from research to touring, ensuring a participatory approach and broader outreach to civil society, youth and opinion-shapers.
