ViM4Democracy: Viable local media for democracy around Baltic Sea – an explorative project for media professionals

The overall goal of this project is to reshape local media to be more viable and trusted in the different communities in the Baltic Sea region through cross-border cooperation and co-creation. 

The Baltic Sea region faces shared challenges, primarily revolving around the struggle of local media to adapt to the digital age while sustaining their roles as pillars of local democracy and public engagement.  

This cooperative initiative will leverage the collective expertise, diverse perspectives, and broad network to tailor solutions that bolster the sustainability, resilience, and relevance of local media in the Baltic Sea region. The project will comprise of three phases: preparation, implementation, and concept design. Methods used include stakeholder consultations, moderated discussions, brainstorming sessions, field visits and data analysis.
