Women-led ClimAct – Advocacy, Policy, and Sustainable Development

The project aims to strengthen women’s participation in climate governance in Türkiye by enhancing their leadership and policy-making capacity.

Women in rural and semi-urban regions, including Thrace, are underrepresented in environmental decision-making despite being key actors in local economies. Limited access to training, leadership opportunities, and policy platforms prevents them from influencing sustainability strategies. This exclusion exacerbates gender inequalities and reduces the effectiveness of climate responses.

The project addresses these gaps by training women leaders in advocacy, media literacy, and policymaking, while establishing Women’s Sustainability Councils to influence local governance. Participants will lead pilot climate projects and engage with Swedish experts through study visits and bilateral meetings. These activities aim to promote inclusive climate governance, support gender-equal leadership, and contribute to sustainable development aligned with TĂĽrkiye’s climate goals.Â
