In Uganda, the new Anti-Homosexuality Act criminalises LGBT-people with a life sentence or even death penalty. We want to mobilise the Ugandan LGBT community to unite international forces to challenge the law. To achieve this we will run capacity-building workshops for young LGBT activists in Uganda, with legal training to avoid arrests and creative workshops to learn new skills and share their voices internationally. They will collaborate with pupils in Swedish high schools and university students in the UK, which will result in media productions using film, music, poetry and art. These will be launched as educational tools and as content in advocacy campaigns, seminars, events for authorities and universities, Pride audiences in Uganda, Sweden and the UK. By influencing international opinion, we strive to pressure Uganda’s lawmakers to repeal the law and thereby reduce the violence and discrimination against LGBT people in Uganda.
