Youth for Equality

The project aims to strengthen youth engagement in promoting gender equality and preventing domestic violence in rural Moldova through artistic expression and knowledge sharing.

In many parts of Moldova, particularly in rural areas, gender-based violence remains a widespread problem, with social norms limiting women’s participation and discouraging emotional openness among boys. To address this, the project seeks to build awareness and foster behavioural change among young people by combining art-based activities with structured learning on gender equality.

The initiative includes a training workshop in Moldova led by a Swedish gender equality expert, targeting staff at the local organisation USF. Equipped with new knowledge, USF will organise ten mural art workshops in different rural towns. These workshops engage youth in creative expression while introducing tools for emotional development, equality, and non-violence. Public artworks will serve as lasting community symbols of inclusion and dialogue.
