Open Call – Alumni Leader’s Meeting for Swedish Foreign Missions

Do you want to enhance and share your knowledge in alumni relations, get practical tools and tips, and be part of developing best practices for working with alumni? SI invites you to apply for online workshops and a physical meet up at Alumni Leaders Meeting in Stockholm, Sweden!

Background 

The Swedish Institute supports Swedish Foreign Missions in their work with SI and Sweden alumni. SI is implementing changes regarding funding and working methods for alumni relations this year. This will also affect Swedish Foreign Missions work with alumni. Consequently, SI want to develop and update the guidelines for working with alumni relations together with representatives from a selected number of Swedish Foreign Missions. 

During spring, selected representatives from Swedish Foreign Missions will participate in digital workshops and a physical meeting in Sweden 22-24 May 2024 together with alumni representatives from the same country in connection with our yearly Alumni Leaders Meeting 

Outcomes include networking, concrete examples and strategy guidance, an updated Alumni Strategy Guide, and updated SI Alumni Relations Toolkit.

Important information! 

SI offers 15 places for locally employed staff at Swedish Foreign Missions working with alumni relations. One applicant per SFM.  

A successful applicant must: 

  • actively take part in the two online workshops prior to coming to Sweden 
  • be able to set aside 22-24 May for the SI Alumni Leaders Meeting and be prepared contribute to the meeting actively. SI will also arrange a special update on SI promotional material and Sweden communications for the invited SFM staff members.

Attendance to the SI Diploma Ceremony 25 May where 300 SI scholarship holders will receive Diplomas in the Stockholm City Hall is optional and is applied for in the registration link.  

SI will select participants in close consultation with MFA Stockholm (UD-FH) taking into consideration geographical spread, personal motivation as well as previous work with alumni relations.  

Programme 

The programme consists of two online workshops and a seat to the Alumni Leaders Meeting and the SI Scholarship Diploma Ceremony in Stockholm in May.  

  • Online workshop 1: 15 April 2024, 2 pm CEST 
  • Online workshop 2: 13 May 2024, 2 pm CEST
  • Alumni Leaders Meeting in Stockholm, 22-24 May 
  • Diploma Ceremony, City Hall in Stockholm, 25 May 

The offer

  • An update session on SI promotional material and Sweden communications   
  • Air ticket to and from Sweden paid by SI
  • Hotel accommodation incl. breakfast in central Stockholm: check in Tuesday 21 May and checkout 26 May
  • Lunch and dinner Wednesday 22 and Thursday 23 of May
  • Lunch 24 May
  • An optional seat for the Diploma Ceremony on Saturday 25 May
