What were you doing before coming to Sweden?
Before I came to Sweden, I was working as a Finance Manager for a financial service firm.
Why did you want to pursue a master’s degree in Sweden?
I wanted to pursue a masters degree to take my career to another level. I also wanted to be able to learn and acquire new knowledge and skills. Sweden is home to the best ranked universities. When it comes to quality education, Sweden is the place to be. I came to know about SI scholarship through Lund University. I was motivated to apply because of its focus on leadership and sustainability. I think my work experience, my passion for being a leader, interest in sustainable development and good academic merits and so forth made me win the scholarship.
What has the scholarship opportunity provided you?
I think the SI scholarship has given me a sense of purpose. It is overwhelming to be a member of the SI Network for Future Global Leaders (NFGL) where you get to meet diverse individuals around the world who share a common goal. The scholarship gave me the opportunity to study in one of the best universities and I have made connections and friendships that will last for a life time.
It has reinforced my sense of purpose. With the SI scholarship, the opportunities extend far beyond your study period, such as the opportunity to be a member in the SI Alumni Network and to be part of other leadership programmes even after studies, and access to grants and funding within the Alumni Network. With SI the possibilities are never ending.
The scholarship opportunity and my time in Sweden has made me a better leader, with a focus. Through getting to know so many people from different backgrounds, I have learnt to appreciate other people’s cultures and ways of living.
Where do you see yourself in the future?
SI scholarship provides a platform for self-reflection and virtue, and a place to enrich my leadership journey. I will use this opportunity, knowledge and experience for a lasting change. My aim is to introduce and also support sustainable financing solutions. I see myself in the future in a management position working toward sustainable development.
