The Swedish Institute invites civil society actors who are curious about applying to the leadership programme SI Leader Lab to attend an online session exploring different aspects of advocacy and leadership.
In the session we will explore systems thinking, a key tool used in SI Leader Lab for understanding systems that can lead to more innovative and holistic solutions to achieve our missions. Creating change in society is about understanding and working with complex and dynamic systems. By taking a systems view of social change we can identify the root causes and drivers of problems and gain insights into who makes the decisions, what has influence and how do we as civil society actors build power to create change.
In the session we will also explore the “Social Brain” and share some neuroscience perspectives on how we are socially wired, including our threat and reward systems. We will explore how the understanding of this can be used to lead constructive collaboration in your civil society work.
The sessions are interactive and will focus on innovative tools and methods. During the sessions there will be possibilities to share experiences with like-minded peers in smaller groups. Representatives from the Swedish Institute will also share information about the call for applications for SI Leader Lab 2024.
There will be two dates to choose from (same content in both sessions). Please note that we will have limited seats that will be distributed with a priority to the target groups of the programme.

The sessions are arranged to give you a taste for what SI Leader Lab is about. SI Leader Lab is a leadership programme arranged by the Swedish Institute. The programme is designed to give influential civil society leaders from around the world an opportunity to explore their leadership skills and learn effective advocacy methods. It’s an opportunity to share experiences, form new connections and to try out innovative tools and methods with peers. In 2024 SI Leader Lab invites 100 civil society leaders who are working for the Sustainable Development Goal 16 (just, peaceful and inclusive societies). Read more about SI Leader Lab here.
