Criteria: Sustainable business

You need to create and submit your application in the online application portal. We do not accept applications sent to us via email.

In addition to background questions about yourself and your company, you will be asked to answer the following questions:

• Please explain your interest in the Swedish Institute Management Programme and why you find it relevant to your context
• Describe how you have worked with sustainability issues, and what your own sustainability objectives are in the next 2-5 years?
• Which social, environmental and/or financial sustainability challenges are your organization currently dealing with?
• How will SIMP enable you to develop solutions that will deliver impactful change?
• Describe a sustainability related change initiative that you have led or initiated in your organisation. What was the impact of the initiative?
• Can you influence strategy work in your organisation?
• Can you influence work with sustainability in your organisation?
• How will you apply the skills and knowledge gained from the programme?
• Please describe what you will bring to the programme that could contribute to enriching the programme (e.g. specific experience, tangible networks, etc.)
• Describe a major sustainability challenge that your company has today? What could be done, is your company willing to change and can you influence this?
• Describe your personal and/or professional goals for the coming five-ten years.
• How did you hear about the Swedish Institute Management Programme?

The goal is to strengthen your capacity to support the transformation towards more sustainable business practices in your industry and country. To reach this goal, we offer you:

1. Knowledge and skills within sustainability – as defined by the four UN Global Compact focus areas (Human rights, Labour and Fair working conditions, Environment, and Anti-corruption).
2. Guidance in developing a Sustainability Roadmap or Strategy based on the UN Global Compact and UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s).
3. Skills in Responsible leadership to strengthen your sustainability leadership.
4. Exchange of experience and knowledge with fellow SIMP participants and SI’s extended Network and partners.

SIMP offers you proven tools and knowledge from experts to put sustainability at the heart of your strategy and take your leadership to the next level. To create more impact, SIMP promotes extensive exchange and learning between participants, and facilitates relationship-building and co-creation between businesses and sector organisations in your country. The core of the programme is for all participants to develop and implement an action-oriented sustainability roadmap or strategy for their company.

No, unfortunately that’s not possible. We can only accept candidates who are citizens of one of our programme countries: Bangladesh, India, China, Vietnam, Philippines, Indonesia and Thailand. We are not able to make any exceptions to the eligibility requirements, or temporarily consider a new country. At this point we do not have any plans to add any new countries. Please check this link for other leadership programmes that might include your country of citizenship. 

It is unfortunately only possible to attend SIMP once! However, SIMP alumni network is lifelong, if one wants to. 

Yes, it’s certainly possible and almost all participants do work full-time. Our ambition is to make sure that the SIMP programme is an integral part of your job. Our live sessions are during the traditional working week, so you will need to book time into your calendar for those. Additional activities such as recorded material and group tasks can be completed at the time in the week that suits you. See programme timeline above for more details.

We record the live sessions so it is possible to catch up after, but that is not as fun or as valuable as being there and taking part live, so we really encourage you to take part in the live sessions.

We encourage you to take part in the live sessions on a device with a keyboard so you can interact fully and engage with the other participants. You cannot take part in SIMP by just “listening in” through a smartphone. You need to be able to chat, share, discuss, and co-create with others.

SIMP uses a modern set of digital tools and platforms to offer you a creative, effective and collaborative learning environment, such as: Zoom, Howspace, Miro, Mentimeter, Whatsapp 

SIMP is free of admission and the Swedish Institute covers training and content. If applicable, there might be some cost for domestic travelling.

The SIMP Programme is very competitive, and SI receives thousands of applications every year and can only accept 30 per region. Due to the large number of applications received, SI does not have the resources to discuss individual application or provide feedback. Nor does SI have the possibility to accept any late submissions of documents or make any changes to individual applications.
